Our goal is to ensure you have the support and clarity needed to complete your renewal with ease.

Mountain Adventures and Citizen Science: Letting the Mountains Speak
Our guest speaker, Mary Sanseverino, shared powerful insights into how citizen science, through tools like iNaturalist and repeat mountain photography, can help us better understand and communicate the vital stories mountains have to tell about biodiversity, climate change, and ecology. Mary also shared a helpful resource handout here.

Advocacy, Recreation & Conservation
This session is packed with valuable information. It demonstrates how small but mighty advocacy actions, especially when in collaboration with others and done consistently over time, can help protect the trails, parks, and backcountry spaces we all love.
Leading the discussion is Monika Bittel, Chair of FMCBC’s Recreation & Conservation Committee. She has been deeply involved in this work across the province for many years. Monika has generously offered to share the slides with our club members. Download them here.

Accessibility, Inclusion & Advocacy in the Backcountry & Trails
This important session explores how inclusive design and community-driven advocacy are breaking down barriers to nature across BC. Guest speaker, Jasmine Parr, an Engagement Specialist at Power To Be, shares her personal story and professional insight into what it means to build welcoming, accessible trails and outdoor spaces where everyone feels they belong.
Wildlife Conservation & Recreation Impact
How does non-motorized recreation affect wildlife—and what can we do about it?
In this session, Dr. Michelle McLellan (Wildlife Science Centre, UBC Okanagan; Biodiversity Pathways) shares research and field experience on habitat connectivity, disturbance, policy and recovery actions, and practical steps clubs can take to minimize impact while enjoying BC’s wild places. Ideal for trip leaders, stewardship volunteers, and advocates balancing access with conservation.
Dr. McLellan’s presentation slides as a resource can be downloaded here.
